Glitter Makes Everyting Better!

How cute are these? Don't you just think that glitter makes everything better? On a quick trip to the Container Store (Which, although I love it, it's usually way too expensive for my taste, but I needed something specific. You can find some good deals though.) I spotted these little gems. I LOVE glitter and anything sparkly, so naturally I just HAD to have these. They were only $1.49 each, so definitely in my budget. Now, the question that I ask all of you lovelies: What do I do with them? I do have my classroom grouped into tables (red, orange, yellow green, blue and pink) so I'm thinking they could be used by table group. I don't want them out all the time though, because I'm sure with my little first grade fingers, they wouldn't last long. So, any ideas? I'd love to hear your creativity!

  2. haha love it! Maybe use them for "shining writers" or something like that and store pens in a writing center.

  3. You could use them for special occasions (birthday person, student of the week, etc.) and put special supplies in them that can only be used by that person, such as swirled colored pencils, shaped crayons, or special pens and markers. Or, you could make them a behavior incentive! I'm sure the kids will LOVE them :)

  4. I love glitter and so do the kids!! I buy those types of buckets all of the time at Target and think what on earth am I going to use them for. I use them for markers, pencils, stickers, manipulatives, etc.

  5. You can make them your "Teacher Tubs" and put pen's, pencil's, marker's, that only you use so that the kids don't get them all germy.

  7. You could have the students names in them and make your very own random generator... to pick a student from each table group.

  8. Glitter does make everything better!

Do you have a "Star of the Week?" Maybe he/she can have the special privilege of using materials from one of the glitter boxes. Or, they can hold morning meeting materials so that only "people doing the right thing" can be called on to help use the materials. You could also keep stickers or prizes in them. Or hang them a little higher on the wall/shelf so that you can keep recess items (whistle and keys, etc.) in them and little hands out of them.

I like the idea of a random generator that Anne suggested. Maybe each box could have a different way of grouping students...blue box holds sorting bears, silver holds different colored cubes, etc., so that students have a heads-up of how they will be randomly assigned before putting their hand inside!

    Endless possibilities!
